Committees

The Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce has several committees in which our membership actively participates.  These committee members are most valuable in the operation and direction of activities that the Chamber focuses on.   It is thanks to our members that not only serve on committees but sponsor chamber events/activities that make our community a wonderful place to work or call home.

Legislative Committee

*****This Committee has been put on hold until further notice.***** This diverse committee has representation from industry, law, finance, education, church, city, county and legislatures.  They meet every other month to discuss various current issues.  They also sponsor educational breakfasts or public meetings of important topics.

Tourism

There are two tracks of tourism:  The Tourism Commission and our Tourism Work Plan.  Both promote many efforts to enhance our area economy.  The Commission members are appointed by the City of Merrill and the Chamber administers the program, which makes grants with room tax dollars to area organizations that sponsor tourism events and activities that boost the community economically.

The Tourism Work Plan not only involves events but includes the distribution of our annual visitors guide and area maps and our 24/7 Informational Center.  In recent years, we have been recipients of several JEM (Joint Effort Marketing) Grants awarded by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism to promote Northwood's trails, attractions, "Fall Colors" and activities.  Merrill is also a Discover Wisconsin Choice Destination.  We also partner with other Northwood's counties and have received grants to promote the area as an attractive tourism destination. 

Ambassador Club

This group sponsors ribbon cuttings for new businesses and new business expansions.  They also call on current chamber members and bring back to the group any concerns and comments that our members have.  The group also holds membership drives to recruit new members. The Ambassadors also our the hosts of the annual Chamber Banquet.   

Promotions & Events

This committee is comprised of special ad-hoc committees that include Retail Consulting, Women of Distinction, Human Resources Consulting and Annual Events.  Our Annual Events Committee is comprised of numerous sub-committees that are hands-on for the following events:  Chamber Annual Dinner, Golf Outing,  Pork in the Park Rib Fest, Movie-in-the-Park, Crazy Daze and the Annual Holiday Events which include the Lighted Christmas Parade, Music on Main and our Very Merrill Christmas Card.
