DATE: Every Tuesday from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. throughout the summer COST: FREE unless there is a special field trip planned The “Fun In the Sun Summer Program for Kids with Disabilities” aims to provide school age children with disabilities a fun, safe, and social learning environment while being active in the outdoors. The activities that we will provide during the summer include, but are not limited to: hiking, swimming, kite flying, fishing, and team building. Each child will get the chance to develop new friendships and enhance skills they have acquired in school to lead healthy active lifestyles while having fun! Kelci Peterson and Andrew Seaman are studying physical education and adapted physical education at the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse. They both enjoy spending their time as coaches for LaCrosse area Special Education sports teams as well as volunteers/coordinators for the Motor Development Program for children with severe cognitive and motor disabilities through the Center of Disability, Health and Adapted Physical Activity. In an effort to combine their passions of exercising/exploring the outdoors and teaching children with disabilities, they want to gather students this coming summer to get active and have fun in the outdoors. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, June 6 at 6:30 at the Smith Center. This will also be a great opportunity to meet Kelci and Andrew! Any questions call Kelci at 715-218-4608 or Andrew at 715-409-9449.
