His five-novel Long Wars seris addresses US/USSR 20th century deception, war and peace. The fifth novel is the seies, Resurrection, will be released in late 2019. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin at the height of the Vietnam War protests in 1969, Townssend flew 130 combat missions in Vietnam, Combodia and Laos. From 1982-1989 he was Deputy Chief, Air Force Intelligence Agency, counter-deception directorate. He is one among few men in America intimately familiar with the war of rus and stratagy between the US and the USSR and its recent revival post-collapse of the Soviet Union. The long War series address deception and truth in war and peace in a 20th century world of contrived and real moral ambiguity.
